Methods for Lifting a Drilling Rig onto a Slope (Part 3)

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Methods for Lifting a Drilling Rig onto a Slope (Part 2)

In my previous post, I wrote about how machinery is transported using a cableway (log hauler).

In this post, I’ll discuss how to transport and install heavy objects at a job site that uses this type of cableway.

Ropeway Unloading Area

As I mentioned in my previous post, I wrote that the position for raising and lowering the cable car’s load must always be directly below the main cable.

For example, suppose we install a 500-kg lightweight steel pressure plate.

Even though it’s considered lightweight, at 500 kg, it’s not something people can just carry around easily.

As an absolute requirement,

This installedThe specifications of the cable car are extremely important...will eventually become.

Ropeways are generally either 5.1-metric-ton or 2.9-metric-ton capacity.

If it had the capacity to lift 5.1 metric tons, I wouldn't have to worry much about lifting large machinery, but I think 2.9 metric tons is the standard.

In that case, to be on the safe side, we’ll transport loads weighing up to about 2.5 metric tons. (It’s scary, so we need to leave some margin.)

First, lower the transport cart onto the scaffolding. Choose one that’s as small as possible and can support the load-bearing plate.

The cart is very convenient.

We place the so-called rough-terrain transport vehicle on the scaffolding, load the load-bearing plate onto it, and move it to the installation site.

This small all-terrain cart is surprisingly light, so it’s actually quite handy.

This is a really useful tool at cable car construction sites. (For moving back and forth across the scaffolding.)

Next, we need a crab crane to suspend the load-bearing plate from the scaffolding.

However, since crab cranes are quite heavy, care must be taken when selecting one.

With this 1.7-metric-ton-capacity crab crane, the total weight is 1,290 kg, so it looks like it should be able to lift it easily enough.

When using a cableway for construction, selecting the appropriate construction method is essential.

If you base your design solely on the type of work—for example, choosing a structural frame just because it’s cheap, or a load-bearing plate just because it’s cheap—then

As a result, there are often various costs involved, which can end up making things more expensive.

Since these temporary facilities—which can only be identified during construction—are difficult to account for financially, it’s a challenge for the general contractor.

It’s really great when that’s taken into account right from the design stage, isn’t it?

See you later.

I feel like methods for transporting materials up slopes are advancing by leaps and bounds!
