I feel like methods for transporting materials up slopes are advancing by leaps and bounds!

Cable Car

The other day, someone showed me a video of materials being transported up a slope.

 

So we've finally made it to the slope, too!!?

It's a video that gives off that kind of vibe.

Well, it's a shame I can't post it, but the video shows me carrying 40 kg (two mesh nets) all the way to the top of the slope.

 

In fact, it is used extensively in mountain construction projects and on the Chuo Maglev Line, among other projects.

These days, companies affiliated with Chubu Electric Power are doing this quite frequently. (You see them often in the mountains.)

I'm guessing there's already a walking rate??

Since they come by quite often... (I guess it's like a quote-and-work kind of thing?)

Drone UAV

Generally speaking, most large drones these days can carry about 60 kg, so,

Considering wind loads and various other factors, I wonder if it can carry a maximum of 80 to 100 kg (maybe 60 kg to be on the safe side).

 

I'm sure there are all kinds of on-site conditions, but unlike a simple cableway, it's great that you can go all over the place, isn't it?

With a cable car, since it stops at fixed points, you have to walk sideways on your own, right?

On the other hand, simple cableways are less affected by the weather and can adapt flexibly to changing conditions.

 

Still, if this kind of technology advances, it’ll make things a lot easier for us slope engineers, too.

The problem is the cost.

The cost of a drone capable of carrying two bundles of fishing nets (40 kg) is over 3 million...

If it crashed because of something, that would seriously freak me out lol

 

I guess the slope construction industry will be sticking with simple cableways for a while...

Material-handling equipment for working at heights when large machinery cannot access the site during slope construction!

 

Still, I’m incredibly grateful that there are contractors willing to take on the challenge!

I hope that through trial and error and continuous refinement like this, things will keep getting better and better.

 

But it’s also interesting to see that a new profession has emerged, isn’t it?

Until now, drones were mainly used for aerial photography and scanning, but now being a drone pilot is a fully-fledged profession.

This is an era in which the turning point of the times is clearly visible in various, highly specialized areas.

How will things change over the next 20 years?

It’s an exciting time, but also a challenging one—so let’s dive right in and have a blast!

 

By the way, I heard that if Doraemon’s Takekopter actually existed, your scalp would get ripped off and fly away lol
