An Era Where Creditworthiness Determines Whether You Get the Job | Sales in the Construction Industry

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

My phone case broke, so I was searching online to order a new one.

There are other e-commerce sites (shopping sites) besides Rakuten, Amazon, and Yahoo!

But, as expected, it's still pretty hard to buy anything anywhere other than Rakuten, Amazon, or Yahoo!.

The reason is that,It's so unreliable that I can't buy it.That's right.

So my desires can't be satisfied.

So, I’ll illustrate this using Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, as shown in the table below.

"Human beings constantly grow toward self-actualization."This theory was developed based on that hypothesis.

It's kind of a stretch to ask how much personal growth you can expect from a cell phone case, lol.

Maslow

Based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs,

First of all, I want a protective case for my cell phone.

I check to make sure the item is safe. I look up its performance and features online.

Next, I check reviews and see if people around me are buying it, which puts my mind at ease for now lol.

So, I guess I'll buy it at this point (lol)

When I show it to people after buying it and they say, “This is great~♪,” it really lifts my spirits.

This is how the need for self-actualization is fulfilled. And even something as simple as a cell phone case can, in a sense, help you grow.

I'm checking out and researching all kinds of cell phone cases, so even that alone is part of my personal growth, lol.

If we apply this to a real-world scenario,

I think there’s a desire to have a good construction crew, to manage construction well, and to carry out high-quality construction work.

If it's a construction crew, we'll gather information on their past projects, website, and other relevant details.

I think this section alone is enough to fill in the "need for affiliation" in the table above.

In the case of construction management, this would include information on the construction management methods you wish to use and the products involved.

What was it actually like working with that construction crew? What happened when you used the product?

I let others be the judge of that—through evaluations, feedback from coworkers, or my job performance, for example.

As a result, people were saying things like, “That construction crew did a great job!” or “That management approach was no good,” and the feedback was very positive!

They receive praise such as this and that. It is only then that their own desires are fulfilled.

Once that need is met, people tend to want the same construction crew or the same management approach for the next project.

So that's what people commonly call a "repeat customer," right?

On the other hand, if those needs aren't met, people will say, "I won't do business with that company" or "I won't use that product."

What we can see from Maslow's hierarchy of needs is trust, isn't it?

Just like you can't buy a cell phone case on just any shopping site,

The point is that even the general contractor can't use subcontractors like that.

It just means you can't just suddenly go out on a sales call and say, "Give me some work!" and expect them to reply, "Sure, here you go."

As a result, there is a tendency for work to be concentrated at a single company.

No matter which general contractor you work with, there are always subcontractors who say things like, “That job goes there, and this one goes here,” right?

When that contractor gets swamped with work,Well, I guess I have no choice, so...I guess I'll just have to go with that company...

That's kind of how the work gets assigned.

By the way, we’re still at that “can’t help it” contractor level, lol.

After all, we’re newcomers to the industry in the Tokai region, so that’s only to be expected. There are some people who don’t know us, after all.

It's hard to trust, lol. This is just one of those tricky things. Sometimes things go well on set, and other times they don't.
(Although construction management is my area of expertise, my construction work is no different from that of any other contractor.)

That said, I guess it’s also partly the fault of the fact that we aren’t doing any sales outreach to the general contractor itself...

I want us to be the kind of company where people say, “This job really calls for that contractor!” We’ve still got a lot to learn!

See you later.
