Wakeboarding

On my day off, I went wakeboarding for the first time in 20 years—lol.

Since it was a private boat, I was able to enjoy a leisurely day off.

Back when I was really into wakeboarding, I used to wear a helmet and go all out, but now I’ve gained quite a bit of weight since then, and

My muscle mass had dropped, so just supporting my own body was a struggle, lol.

 

When I do water sports like this, I really notice how my body is losing its strength and how out of shape I am.

You wouldn't know that just by doing your job as usual.

And the muscle soreness the next day was brutal...


But that's beside the point.

This is the impeller shaft of the spray gun.

The left and right ends of this shaft are worn down.

It looks something like this.

I'm guessing it's worn down by about 2 to 3 mm.

Grease is oozing out of a small hole.

If you don't apply enough grease, it'll wear down quickly!

This part is where the ground packing for the spray gun is located.

Mortar seeps into the area where the gland packing is installed, which is why it wears away like this.

That's why, if you don't take the time to properly replace and tighten the gaskets, this kind of thing happens or air leaks occur.

And I'm going to fix this one this time! lol

Another option is to buy a replacement.

But we'll fix it.

The easiest way is to build up the material with welding. After that, if you turn it down to the same diameter on a lathe, it’ll be back to normal for the time being.

(I am not considering temperature control during welding, quenching, tempering, etc.)

While it’s certainly possible that the strength might be slightly reduced, it’s hard to imagine it breaking to the point of causing an accident.

Especially since it’s the part that supports the rotational movement, this is all the more true.

 

Last time, we performed thermal spraying on the cleaning adapter.

Since the materials are scheduled to be delivered in their raw state this time, I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

 

It's just a small thing, but it's handy to know repair methods like this.
