The Moldam method is, strictly speaking, a surface treatment method for stone walls and the like.
Although this method does not provide any deterrent effect, it offers a great deal of flexibility when combined with techniques such as rebar insertion.
Furthermore, it has been used in public works projects in the Kyushu region, so it has a proven track record.
I think we'll see more disaster-mitigation methods like this in the future.
Should we carry out disaster prevention construction or disaster mitigation construction?
In the case of disaster prevention construction, I believe it involved installing retaining wall frames and inserting rebar on top of the old stone wall. (Assuming the stone wall was deteriorated.)
If this involves disaster mitigation work, there is a very good chance it will be replaced by the Moldam method combined with rebar insertion.
The reason is a budget issue.

I think this kind of construction method really comes into its own in situations where you might think, “You don’t really need to go that far here.”
Since Aichi Prefecture has many areas with dry-stone walls, we anticipate significant demand in the future. (That’s just wishful thinking, lol.)
