Well, since I have some free time, it looks like I'll be posting about machine maintenance for a while lol

Conveyor Belt

Do you know what this is?

It is one of the essential pieces of equipment for slope construction workers.

 

This is the motor for the conveyor belt.

I worked on this today.

 

It had aged over time, but it was pretty beat up, and it had started to leak electricity quite a bit when I washed it with a pressure washer, so I’m giving it a thorough overhaul this time lol.

Well, to get back to the basics, we're talking about water getting into the motor, but...

We slope contractors sometimes apply mortar directly to the Belcon, right?

Especially when spraying fresh mortar.

Since the conveyor belt gets covered in mortar during that process, we give it a thorough wash with a high-pressure washer.

In such cases, water may inevitably enter the Belcon motor unit.

 

The inside of my motor was covered in rust, so I cleaned it out and applied rust inhibitor. (I cleaned the inside thoroughly, too.)

I'll take everything apart and clean it up.

There aren't any problems with the bearings for now, but since I have the chance, I'll replace them with new ones.

Dust Seal

And this is the most important part.

It's a dust seal, isn't it? (Or is it an oil seal? Or maybe it's a combination seal??)

If you look closely at this, it says “KDS1 30 42 6.”

So this is the model number. (You can't see it in Logan, lol.)

Manufacturer, Shaft Type, Outer Diameter, Thickness

If you take this part apart, you'll definitely need to replace it.

Since this is an area where water can enter, please be careful when installing it.

I took a picture of the bearing part number with my camera and uploaded it! lol

 

When it comes to maintenance, you have to take it apart and then just leave it there until the parts arrive.

It really does take a long time, doesn't it?

It can't be helped, but I hope to make progress little by little.
