When you put together a budget, how much gross profit does the company typically end up with?
Something I hear a lot these days is, “You’re making money because it’s a regular job, right?”
That's what people say.
From my perspective, “Huh? What are you talking about??”
The daily revenue required for a company to remain operational on a day-to-day basis starts at around 35,000 yen. (Estimates by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism)
That's why there's no such thing as "true net profit."
Furthermore, this 35,000-yen operating budget does not include any of the company's machinery.
For contractors like us who use our own equipment, it’s definitely not the case that just because we’re regular employees, that’s enough.
Do you really think you can make money just by trading regularly?
This trend is commonly seen among major branch operators.
Come to think of it, I think I would have thought the same way back then.
"25,000 yen should be enough, right?"
But in reality, it's completely different.
When major companies prepare their operating budgets, they typically budget for employee salaries at around 700,000 to 900,000 per person per month.
This figure also includes other miscellaneous company expenses.
Even if we hire a temporary employee, we should have budgeted for “600,000 to 800,000 yen per month.”
In our case as contractors, if we calculate based on a “standard rate of 23,000 to 25,000 yen per day,”
Don't you think it's weird to work on the 24th and be okay with "552,000–600,000 yen/month"? lol
Whether a company is big or small, its expenses don't really vary that much as a percentage.
Well,Construction supervisors are certainly highly valued.That's it!
There are far fewer of them than there are craftsmen, and the number of veterans is even smaller.
These days, there are even fewer young people!!
So I totally understand why it's so valuable.
However, without skilled workers, the construction work simply can't be done.
Let's raise the craftsmen's salaries!! Please help us boost the craftsmen's motivation.
Let's raise salaries even more to revitalize the construction industry and make it a career people aspire to!!
To achieve this, we contractors need to raise our construction unit prices.
In recent years, the construction unit prices charged by general contractors have risen dramatically.
It's just not possible for unit prices to stay the same as they were in the past.
It’s only natural that subcontractors’ unit prices would go up, right?
I think it would be great if, as I move up, I could do even better work, earn more recognition, and keep climbing higher and higher in every sense.
Let’s be brave and raise our unit prices, contractors!
