As a result, construction management is becoming increasingly stringent.

Construction Defects and Improper Work in Slope Stabilization Projects

1. Cutting PC steel strands and PC steel bars used in anchor work.

2. Insufficient grout injection during anchor installation.

3. Cutting rebar by a rebar inserter.

9. Errors in rebar placement and incorrect rebar sizes by the formwork crew.

10. Incorrect anchor angle.

11. Error in the zabuton frame (the outer edge is raised).

12. The mortar is not thick enough.

Reason

 I tried to figure out why.

1. There's no time to complete the project (this is probably the main reason)

2. The contract price is too low (this is common for subcontractors)

3. Lack of Technical Expertise (Lack of Knowledge and Experience on the Construction Management Side)

4. Doing Whatever the Craftsman Says (↑Lack of Skills)

5. Measures focused solely on workability.

6. Lack of Skilled Craftsmen

Countermeasures

1. As for the construction schedule, we’ll just have to discuss the details.

We have no choice but to manage the process by carefully planning and organizing every step, and when other companies are involved, we must find a middle ground with them.

Also, before the project schedule gets to that point, the supervisor should instruct the crew to work about an hour of overtime every day.

 

2. Let's make sure to raise our contract prices. The days when "cheap means poor quality" are long gone.

It’s better to take your time and do a good job than to rush through it and do a poor job.

People tell me, “That contractor is expensive, but they do good work.”

By the way, contractors who do good work are almost always quick at their jobs.

But it's expensive! That's just the way it is.Let's set the estimate as high as possible!

 

3. While there is no alternative but for supervisors to acquire the necessary technical skills through study and experience, the project can be completed without any issues as long as the craftsmen working alongside them are highly skilled.

If you work with craftsmen like that, both management and construction will be a breeze.

If you do the bare minimum in construction management, you’ll pass the inspection. However, if you only do the bare minimum, you won’t earn any points.

Coaches who can bring in wins are highly valued. And the pay is going up, too, right?

As expected, the job of a construction manager is extremely important.

The most important thing is to manage the process to prevent fraud and defects.will be.

 

4. This is the most dangerous part: the craftsmen whose work is subpar are the ones who make the most complaints.

They keep saying, “We can’t do this,” and “We can’t do that.”

A skilled craftsman never says it can’t be done; instead, they’ll work with you to figure out a way to make it happen, and,

They’ll teach the new supervisor how to do the job properly. However, make sure to hold thorough meetings and review the drawings carefully.

 

5. While it’s fine to use machinery and other tools to make construction work easier, cutting corners just to make things easier is a no-go.

This is somewhat related to the point above, but it depends on the skill level of the craftsmen and supervisors.

 

6. A skilled supervisor can make up for any shortcomings in the craftsmen’s skills. After all, it’s only natural that craftsmen have their strengths and weaknesses.

That’s where a great director comes in. When you have a great director and a great crew, things run incredibly smoothly on set.

In my case, whenever I’m unsure of what to do on-site or encounter a problem, I always make a point of choosing the more difficult option. (I instruct my employees to do the same.)

This is the method that is more accurate and closer to the correct answer—it follows the procedure manual and the instruction manual exactly.

That way, it’ll all wrap up smoothly without anything getting lost.

If you're going to run away and get chased anyway, you might as well take the straight and narrow from the start—that way, you won't get chased, and you won't have to live in fear.
