Why is mortar used for spray-applied formwork?
Back in the day, we used to issue settlement agreements based on that quite often.
This is because the formwork was included in the design for the shotcrete work, and since it was cheaper than mortar, it was adopted.
Since mortar has become so common these days, I doubt you’ll find any unless it’s a very rare case.
To put it simply,
Coarse aggregate gets trapped between the rebar and the mesh, for example,スThat's because it's possible, isn't it?
"Su" means "gap," lol.
Don't you say "su"? (They do in the Tokai region...)
The coarse aggregate gets in the way.
Considering the possibility that coarse aggregate might get clogged and prevent concrete from being poured underneath it, mortar would be a better choice, wouldn't it?
In fact, when I ran a trowel along the side of the formwork, I found that in the case of shotcrete, there were many places where holes had formed due to the coarse aggregate. (Past)

To begin with, I think using shotcrete on slopes is nonsense.

Most of the coarse aggregate (more than half) simply accumulates at the bottom as waste.
The materials I bought basically turn into trash right before my eyes during the spraying process, lol.
Due to the spraying pressure, the stones (coarse aggregate) strike the slope and bounce off, flying away.
The hardest part is cleaning up these stones at the end! (Industrial byproduct)
You spend money buying coarse aggregate, mix it into mortar, and then most of it ends up as waste when it’s sprayed on.
If you apply it using a mortar spray gun and then sprinkle coarse aggregate on the side, it sticks way better, lol.
Tidying up takes time, too.
That’s why many contractors I know have switched to spray-applied mortar after getting approval, right?
It is said that there are quite a few drawbacks associated with sprayed concrete.
For these reasons, sprayed mortar is generally used in reinforced concrete construction instead of sprayed concrete.
