Hello, everyone.
This is Enta.
Have you heard of a "Construction Meister"?
I didn't know much about it myself.
And I didn't consider it important either.

What Is a Construction Meister?
A program that honors construction workers who possess particularly outstanding skills and technical expertise and have made significant contributions to the guidance and training of the next generation with the “Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Commendation for Outstanding Construction Workers.”
"Master Craftsmen" who work on the front lines and possess outstanding skills and technical expertise.
This system was introduced in Heisei 13.
As expected, it was virtually unknown at first, and it has taken time for it to gradually gain traction.
It seems they’ve been increasing the number of certified individuals since around H23, and it finally appears to be gaining recognition.
The reason I didn't consider it that important was, first of all, that I knew almost nothing about it.
This is actually a really important thing, lol.
I knew it existed, but the reason I didn't realize how important it was is that,
It was because we weren't acting as the general contractor but were working as a subcontractor.
I was already working as a subcontractor around H23, and although the Meister system had existed prior to that, I hadn’t even given it a second thought when working as a prime contractor for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Furthermore, the number of contractors and site representatives carrying out prime-contractor projects for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is extremely small.
So, the point is that I have a solid grasp of those people and that company in particular,
Conversely, subcontractors have no way of knowing this (unless they look it up themselves).
Since both the main contractor's craftsmen and the subcontractor's craftsmen are certified, having even just one person with this certification gives you a significant advantage.
This is because we register these certified individuals when they participate in a bid.
Apparently, this certificate alone is worth 1 point!!
Anyone who has experience with bid estimation will understand just how significant a single point can be in the bidding process.
In a bidding process, this single point is the deciding factor.
As a subcontractor, the registered person must absolutely be present at that registered job site, so,
It’s reassuring to know that my job is secure.
As the general contractor, that craftsman is an absolute must, so I can’t ask for an unreasonable price.
In that sense, too, there are benefits for craftsmen.
However, I’ve heard that most of the craftsmen who qualify for this program are contractors who work on sites operated by major companies.
I guess it's from one of the big companies, isn't it??
This page contains a list of the award recipients. Please take a look.
Please also see the following for reference
I’d like to let our employees take it too, but they’re still too young, so they’ll have to keep learning the ropes for a while (lol).
See you later.

One point! That's amazing. Depending on the scale of the construction project, that could amount to a huge sum...
That one point is really significant.
These days, the cost estimates are so accurate that even if a bid is lower in price, it can easily be overtaken by higher technical scores.
Ultimately, I appreciate that they’re leading the way in technology.
However, it's quite difficult for new entrants to break into the market.
Even if it's something you do on a regular basis, you are not eligible to bid.
These days, I can't even enter a bid, lol.
That's tough, huh? lol
