Tips for Resting Your Brain | Strategies for Mental Work in the Construction Industry

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Doesn't doing the same thing day in and day out get tiring?

Routine Work

I was doing some research as part of my routine work.

"Routine work refers to steady, repetitive tasks performed according to a set procedure, or to daily work. It includes tasks performed repeatedly for each unit or item in a manufacturing plant according to established procedures, as well as tasks carried out daily according to a set procedure, such as pre-shift preparations and post-shift cleanup."

For us as slope contractors—though this may vary depending on site conditions—we perform lath installation on cut slopes to create a clean, flat surface.

It must be frame assembly and frame spraying.

Back when I used to go to Tokuyama Dam in Gifu, the legal quota was something like 30,000 square meters.

I went there for three years, but I really got sick of it, lol.

It was like a daily spiritual practice.

I remember how happy I was when the slope started to become unstable partway through the project and we had to design the anchor and rebar installation work from scratch.

I was like, “I hate legal frameworks!!”

It is said that the human brain gets very tired from routine work (actions that are the same every time).

When your brain gets tired, your body naturally gets tired too, so you end up feeling exhausted. Apparently, the brain uses 20% of the body’s energy!!

With routine tasks, since your body remembers them on its own, it might seem like your brain has shut down, but apparently, it’s actually thinking about other things.

To prevent that from happening, it’s necessary to constantly provide stimulation, and

The way to do that isDoing tasks that you can do without thinking about them in a conscious mannerThat seems to be the case.

For example, when drilling anchor holes, you might try to become more aware of the lever operations you perform unconsciously while drilling, or

Just by paying a little extra attention when operating the spray gun's exhaust system—something as simple as that—it seems you can give your brain a rest.

If you don't make a conscious effort, your brain won't be able to rest.I know, it's a bit paradoxical, but it's kind of funny, lol.

Things like this are called “Movement Meditation"They say that's what they call it, and apparently even Google has adopted it."

If you practice using your brain when you want to, you might experience less physical fatigue and be able to do more creative work!

Let's give our brains a rest so we can keep them sharp!!

See you later.
