You can use sand intended for spraying, or just regular sand from around here will do just fine.
Gently squeeze it and try rubbing your hands together lightly with some water.
It should be easy to remove. The finer the texture, the better it comes off.
The ones that work best are the ones with fine, clay-like particles.
Actually, rather than washing it away, it works by absorbing it and removing it.
It's trapping dirt on the sand particles.
What's more, if you scrub it vigorously, it acts as a substitute for polishing compound and removes the surface layer.
You have to be very careful, because doing this too much can cause your hands to become chapped.
