The other day, I was making a jig for flat-cap bolt scales using a lathe.

This time, I have some leftover rebar from the D51, so I'll use that.

Place the rebar into the claw.

I'll gradually shave it down with a chisel.

Start by roughing it out and chipping away at it vigorously.

It's gradually taking shape.

It's starting to look like the real thing.

I was cutting right through the base with a cutting bit to sever it, but I forgot to remove the chamfering bit on the other side and ended up damaging the tip lol

Well, I'm planning to cut it to adjust the length, so it's not a problem.

I cut it off with this.

The parts shown below are the ones that were cut off.

We'll shape it into this form.

First, we’ll machine the holes for the rebar, and once that’s done, we’ll create the sections where the D19 bolts will be inserted.

While machining the rod that holds the D19 bolt scale, I realized I’d cut too much off, and right as I was about to finish, it just snapped off lol.

This was a failure that wasted an hour of my time, lol.

This mistake happened because, even though I had drawn up the plans and was following them at first, I ended up proceeding based on intuition without double-checking the measurements along the way.

 

In particular, directing is an absolutely essential skill—it’s the skill of observing carefully.

If you look closely at the drawings—look at them over and over again until you’ve memorized them—you’ll notice the deviations on site.

As soon as you arrive at the scene, you’ll start to notice that something’s off.

Please take the time to look at the blueprints. So you don't end up like me this time!

 

Even though I made it myself, my carelessness led to this outcome.

Well, it’s something I can handle on my own, so it’s fine, but I can’t help thinking, “If I’d been able to get it done, I could’ve shipped it out tomorrow,” lol.

Looks like I'll have to do some editing this Sunday...

I don't have many on-site projects, but I'm swamped with cost estimates for bid proposals, and it's starting to get tough lol

 

Even though I’m cleaning things up before it gets overwhelming, I can’t help but feel like the clutter is just piling up lol.
