The other day, I went to a job site.

When I go to the site, there are some standard activities I do.

That's right, it's KY activities.

These days, there’s this thing called risk assessment, where risks are quantified and estimated...

 

So, just filling out the KY activity form for that site takes about 15 minutes.

I'll write down the steps for the day...

We will conduct hazard prediction by breaking down the assigned work categories into more specific categories....

 

I just end up thinking, "Seriously... aren't they just stupid? lol"

It’s like only the foreman has to rack his brain writing it, while everyone else just goes, “Yeah, yeah, okay!” and that’s the end of it, right??

I felt that this was exactly what they mean by "an empty theory."

It's not just that it's a hassle to fill out, but rather,Safety management should be simple.That's what I think.

Is it really necessary to write such a rambling mess—to the point where even the person who wrote it doesn't remember what they wrote?

"Wait, are you making me fill this out just for the Labor Standards Office in case of an accident?"

That's not right, is it?

It's about raising awareness so that workers don't engage in unsafe behavior and can perform their work safely, right?

The same goes for risk assessment.

Just because the number went from 3 to 2, I'm like, "Huh?" lol

I can just hear someone saying, “That’s the kind of thinking you get when you don’t understand the true meaning of risk assessment!” But don’t you think more than 90% of contractors don’t actually get it?

I bet even among admins, there aren't many who fully understand this, right?? (I just looked it up myself lol)

 

The important thing is for workers to say, “Be careful—your hands are at risk during this task!”

That's all there is to it.

When it comes to ground anchor work, the foreman always reminds everyone first thing in the morning to be careful not to get their hands caught when attaching or removing the casing.

He keeps telling me to shield my eyes so the grout doesn't get in them.

 

The important thing is to raise awareness; writing long, rambling, pointless passages does not lead to safety.

Just like in the old days, I’ll list three potential risks and provide solutions for each.

That's allIf it isn't simple, no one will remember it.

I bet almost everyone is just sitting there with a blank look on their face lol

I think it's a good idea to capitalize on your company's unique strengths, but I hope you don't lose sight of what really matters.

The bottom line is that everyone should be able to work safely and do a good job.

That’s why I’d like you to think of a way to raise awareness that’s simpler.

There are quite a few Japanese people who think it's a good idea to pile up paperwork, lol.

 

I believe it's important to keep things simple in everything I do.
