Hello, everyone.
This is Enta.

The mountain we built last year collapsed lol
Well, this happened a while back, but I went to check on the site the other day.
As you can see, this is the rebar insertion work that has been completed.
It turned out that the collapse was actually occurring further back, and since the slope was deemed too steep for rebar installation, the plan was changed to use ground anchors.
However, I was able to witness an interesting sight here.
There is grout remaining at the base of the rebar.
If you take a closer look at the base there...

It looks something like this.
It's pretty clear that the rebar spacers aren't doing anything at all lol
I have confirmed that the mouth is centered using a clip spacer.
Well, some people just say, “It’s always been this way, so it’s fine as is.”
But I wonder how many people, upon seeing this, think, “Yeah, I’d definitely want to put it right in the middle, wouldn’t I?”
Which do you think is stronger: when it’s right in the center, or when it’s fallen all the way to the bottom?
Of course, it's better when it's in the middle, isn't it?
Regarding the relationship between tension and compression.
Seeing this made me realize once again that I should probably conduct a more thorough experiment with the clip spacers.
Although it should never happen, witnessing the collapse of a structure we built ourselves—in a situation where no lives are at stake—is a very valuable learning experience.

It's hard to see, but most of the rebar is located almost directly beneath the holes.
We’ll need to reevaluate our standard construction practices as well.
If anything, the structure is stronger when the rebar is located toward the top of the hole.
It was a day that really made me think.
When inserting rebar, the higher up it is, the better in terms of strength, but at the very least, it should be positioned firmly in the center of the hole.
See you later

That's an amazing image. It's really educational. Thank you very much.
The power of nature is amazing, isn't it?
Nature always wins, lol.
