For the past few days, I've been replacing the rails—the core component of the rotary percussion mechanism.
After prolonged use, the rails will wear out.
The rails get dented as the cam follower runs along them. (I forgot to take a picture of that, though.)

This is a cam follower, and a rail runs between these bearings.
Normally, replacing this rail is quite a difficult job.
The mounting location is already set, but welding is absolutely crucial!
But we have our own in-house welder!
That's right—Wakazono Manufacturing is really into motorcycles these days!
I asked Wakazono Seisakusho—who’s always writing articles about motorcycles—to come by. lol

First, we'll start by installing the chain rail.
This part is pretty straightforward, so Yuki, the nephew of Wakazono Manufacturing, is handling the installation.
Also, since the main rail is slightly warped, I'll take it to a milling shop to have it straightened.
It may look straight, but it isn’t actually straight, so we use machining to make it straight. For machines with surprisingly precise mechanisms, like rotary percussion machines, details like this are crucial.
If you don't do this properly, the core may shift when using the casing, which can lead to excessive wear on consumables.
I'm looking forward to the machining work.
If we can finish it by the end of this week, we'll be heading out to the job site starting next week.
It's really great that we can do our own repairs!
