It’s Finally Here! The Onset of Presbyopia | A Slope Maintenance Worker Over 40

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Even though I turned 40, I actually felt like I hadn't aged that much!

That's because I have a good memory, and my legs and back aren't too bad either.

I thought I was in decent shape (though my belly is a bit of a problem).

And I don't have presbyopia yet either.

But then, out of the blue, it happened!

It came out of the blue

That's right!

That's it! Who was it again who did that thing with that thing—you know, doing this and that?

That's it!

Um... I remember his face, but... that guy! Hmmmm...

That person!

Who was that again??

Who was that again?

That's right!

Who was that again? I've started!

Man, nothing's coming to mind at all.

I remember his face. But I just can't place him.

To make matters worse, I'm starting to forget the construction methods, too.

What's more, I've completely forgotten even the projects I worked on or managed in the past.

Since I’ve actually done it, I clearly remember the sensations and have a clear mental image of it.

The text data for the name is kind of faint.

So, I decided to look into that a bit.

"A person's name is a word and a piece of written information. It is said that the frontal lobe is responsible for processing this."

This function developed alongside the evolution of living organisms and is relatively recent in the history of brain evolution.

Conversely, it deteriorates quickly and shrinks with age.

"It is inevitable that memories of textual information, such as names, fade more quickly than memories of visual information."

This is a copy-and-paste from the link below.

"Don't Worry If You Can't Remember People's Names": We Ask an Expert About the Mechanisms of Aging

To be honest, I was a little shocked.

I can't believe it's taking this long. Back when I was young, I used to laugh at my old boss.

I guess it's my turn to be laughed at now...

A Road You Can Never Travel Again

Well, I guess there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm just going to stop thinking about it lol

It said in the article above that it can be stressful, after all.

However, I do think it would be a problem if we didn't get some training under our belts.

It's tough when things just keep getting worse, isn't it?

That said, it seems to be okay while I'm working, but I've heard that once I stop working, things will get pretty bad.

There was a chart showing the difference between forgetfulness and dementia.

"Forgetfulness" Due to Aging

"Forgetfulness" Caused by Dementia

  • Forgetting a part of something
  • I remember it whenever something triggers it.
  • I’ll never forget the date, the place, or my family’s faces.
  • Being Aware of Your Own Forgetfulness
  • Does not interfere with daily life or social activities
  • The symptoms do not progress
  • Forgetting everything
  • Memory loss is persistent; the person forgets things such as having just eaten (short-term memory) and gradually forgets past memories (long-term memory) as well.
  • I forget things like dates, times, places, and even my family members' faces
  • Unable to recognize symptoms of memory loss
  • Interferes with daily life and social activities, and requires care
  • Symptoms progress

Even though I’ve forgotten so much, my work is second nature to me, so it’s absolutely no problem.

Even though my former boss may forget all sorts of names, he’s always thorough when it comes to work.

I hear he's 68 now, but he's still outstanding as a site representative for the general contractor.

Apparently, these days, the young officials at the government office are even younger than his own son, so he feels like taking care of them lol

AlreadyI'm the director's right-hand man.Right?!

There are plenty of legendary on-site supervisors like that out there.

I guess even a legendary director like that has a legendary memory lapse.

I was so shocked by how many gaps there are in my memory today that I decided to write a post about it.

Starting tomorrow, I'll start writing seriously.

See you later.

P.S. Regarding the clip spacers designed specifically for rock bolts, we will discontinue sales of the φ65 size once our inventory runs out.

That's because we've heard from many people on the job site that it's easier to adjust it to φ90.

I've heard that with a φ65, it may sink into the soil.

I'll explain this in more detail at a later date.

The other day, when I ran into you at that materials supplier, I was actually wondering, “Who is this guy again?” until we actually started talking. That’s pretty embarrassing, huh? (lol)

    • Entertainment エンタ says:

Thank you for your hard work.

      That's exactly right, lol
We're at that age where we talk about all kinds of stuff now, lol.

It's the "This and That" era!
