Here's How to Change Your Oil After a Year!

The other day, we changed the oil in our 100-kVA generator.

I thought I did it frequently, but it turns out I last changed it a year ago.

The hour meter read 800 hours since the replacement.

Since this is a large aircraft, if you don't change the oil at least once every 500 hours, the engine's lifespan will be...

That said, I don't know how long it will last.

However, fuel economy will definitely suffer, so it’s something to keep in mind.

For humans, it's like telling yourself to keep running even though your body is dehydrated.

It really is that important, isn't it?

Maintenance

As a general rule, for engines in generators of this type, you'll need about 18 liters when replacing the oil filter.

So, with the intention of flushing the system, I changed the oil once and let the engine run for about two hours.

Is "flushing" engine oil actually effective?

 

After that, drain the oil again, add engine oil mixed with 7% industrial-grade GRP, and you're done.

By the way, GRP is an engine oil additive—it’s a lubricant.

We were so impressed by its amazing performance that we’ve installed it in all of our vehicle models and variants.

I want to reduce mechanical friction!

This oil additive and grease are the best!

However, it’s surprisingly high-end, and we use it in the machine’s key components.

Drilling Machine Cam Follower

In fact, the cam follower on the drilling machine has become more durable.

The cam follower supports the hammer part of the rotary percussion mechanism, and if it breaks, it will damage the rail.

However, since I started using this GRP grease, I’ve really rarely had any issues with things not turning.

Each of these cam followers costs around 5,000 yen or more (depending on the model), and you need 12 of them for a single replacement.

Generally, it’s best to replace both front tires at the same time to maintain proper balance.

If we can reduce the number of times we replace this, it will lead to cost savings in the long run. (Lately, it’s been enough to just replace the broken parts.)

 

It's a pressure washer with GRP added, but a large amount of water had entered the plunger section and caused emulsification.

Even so, it was working fine as usual, but I sent it in for repair because it just didn't feel quite right.

So, the other day, the machine repair company we often use (Toyotoku Industries, Ltd.) A user on the forum told me,

"It was still running just fine even with all that water in it... It could have caught fire at any moment!" (Sorry for not checking it properly.)

Is this really thanks to GRP??

 

It’s true that many of these oil additives are a bit fishy. So I’m not asking you to believe me, but—

I used it on the gears of my winch. The gears were slipping too much and wouldn't lock anymore, lol.

So, I drained the oil, washed all the parts, and put it back together, but it's still not working. It slips...

(Apparently, an oil film forms, so you have to sand it down with sandpaper...)

GRP is truly formidable.

All of our machines are equipped with GRP!
