Numerous Ganta-stacked construction projects (Moldam Method) in Kanagawa Prefecture

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Have you heard of "Ganta stacking"?

What Is "Ganta Stacking"?

"Ganta-zumi" refers to,A retaining wall constructed by stacking and combining various materials, such as concrete scraps, bricks, and roof tilesrefers to.This type of retaining wall is constructed using reused materials from demolition; because the surface is covered with mortar, it is difficult to tell at a glance what materials were used. Ganta-style retaining walls are often found in older structures and are considered structurally unstable, so caution is required. (Google)

Ganta Stack

It's a guy like this.

Since this isn't a stone wall, it's very unstable.

That's because they come in all different sizes and depths.

That's why it's unstable.

Or rather, I'm not really sure. How unstable is it, exactly?

So, for this project, we’ll be installing this Ganta piling using the Moldam method, along with drainage to prevent collapse.

Ganta Stack

It contains all sorts of things, like bricks and concrete debris.

Ganta Stack

A survey stake marked "Kanagawa Prefecture"?

That's amazing, isn't it?

They used whatever materials they had on hand to pile up a barrier and stop the soil from eroding away from the land.

Even with a pile of Ganta as bad as this, there’s one type of construction work you absolutely must never do: sprayed mortar lol

Because if you hide everything, you won't know what happens next.

The sealed construction method won't work.

We'll be as transparent as possible and take appropriate measures.

Since this project uses a combination of Mouldam and dewatering boring, the likelihood of collapse—even during heavy rain—is quite low.

While construction methods that increase resistance to landslides are important, there’s also the preventive approach of keeping the mountain from collapsing and allowing the force of the water to flow away, isn’t there?

I've said this many times, but please stop using that construction method where you just hide things, lol.

See you later.

P.S. Yokohama City has a checklist for stone masonry,
