An Era When Fuel Is No Longer Easily Available | Procurement in the Construction Industry

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

It's gotten a lot harder to fill up a portable gas can!

Folding can

You generally cannot enter on your own.

It seems to be fine as long as it's handled by gas station employees who are certified to handle hazardous materials.

However, under the Fire Service Act, the amount of fuel that can be filled into a portable fuel can per day is limited to less than 200 liters.

I've heard that some places require at least 200L if you have the proper certification.

Well, in reality, it probably all started with retailers voluntarily suspending sales following the Ani incident today.

The other day, I was driving a 4-metric-ton Unick truck to transport a 100-horsepower compressor.

I was planning to return it to the leasing company, so I figured I’d just fill it up with diesel along the way.

And that’s why I get turned down at every single stand.

Self-service gas stations are definitely out of the question!

The Fire Service Act has gotten stricter, so they said we absolutely have to use a gas station that has someone with a hazardous materials certification.

It's getting harder and harder to even get diesel fuel!!

Refueling

From there, we stopped at three gas stations, and at the fourth one, we finally found a station where we could fill up.

This is really tough! (And it's a 4-metric-ton truck, too...)

Especially since fuel from rental companies costs about 200 yen per liter! lol (Since there are all kinds of fees and whatnot included.)

This is especially true for rental companies that require you to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas at the end of the job.

So, you need to check in advance for places near your office or worksite that will let you in (other than delivery services).

Since I’ve had that kind of experience myself, I’m going to send out a notification on our company chat.

You should all be very careful as well.

It's not easy to refuel construction equipment mounted on a truck!

It's definitely best to have it delivered on the last day of on-site machine work.

See you later.

Good evening. With galvanized portable gas cans, the plating peels off within a few years due to moisture and other factors, causing them to rust and making the gasoline cloudy. Be careful, as this can clog the carburetors of small engines (lawn mowers, chainsaws, and portable generators you can carry with one hand). These days, I make sure to use stainless steel portable gas cans for gasoline.

      Thank you.

      That's right.
As expected, the main drawback of those iron canteens that cost around 3,000 yen is that the inside rusts.
      Therefore, a filter is essential.

Stainless steel is great, but it's kind of expensive, isn't it? lol
And as soon as you realize it's stainless steel, it gets stolen!!
Two of mine were stolen before, too!
      Please be careful.

Please let us know your thoughts again.
      Thank you in advance.
