In recent years, there has always been some kind of disaster-level event.

Last year began with the Noto Earthquake, followed by the Noto Heavy Rains.

This year began with heavy snowfall in Aomori.

This is the same group that has been teaming up with the media to bash us construction companies,

I think this is the outcome that citizens (the public)—who have long opposed public works projects—have been hoping for.

 

What's the point of complaining now that it's causing them trouble?

I think there are plenty of current and former construction workers who feel that way.

 

They're gone now, aren't they?

People riding large tire shovels.

There really are fewer and fewer of them these days.

The construction companies that used to be the first to rush to the scene whenever something happened under the disaster response agreement have been steadily downsizing and getting smaller and smaller.

I wonder what Mr. Koizumi—who drastically cut construction spending—thinks about this?

Things had been gradually picking up under Abe, but it's already too late...

People are leaving, companies are disappearing, and Japan is headed for nothing but decline.

 

It is absolutely certain that we will not be able to respond immediately if a disaster occurs in the future.

After all, the number of local civil engineering contractors hasn't dropped dramatically.

 

And as indicated by this “2025 Problem,” one-third of the current population will be gone within the next 10 years.

I'm guessing the construction costs are going to be astronomical.

Assuming the current standard unit price is 30,000, it’s highly likely that it will be around 50,000 or higher in 10 years.

Still, no one comes.

 

The companies that will survive in the future will likely be those that possess specialized technologies and have a sufficient number of employees.

How many companies like that are there nationwide???

When I see news stories like this, full of nothing but selfish complaints, I really think, “This is bad!”

Psychologically speaking, I think I’d stop going to shovel snow in front of the house of someone who complains way too much, lol.

I mean, I should just not go, lol.

Don't we all feel a sense of gratitude toward each other?

Let's respect each other.

You can't do this without a spirit of mutual understanding, can you?

 

And you know, when you actually try riding a tire shovel, it’s surprisingly hard.

It's not like I'm really grinding away at the asphalt, you know.

A technique for scooping a few centimeters above the surface to avoid cutting into it.

Technology designed to prevent manhole covers from being blown away.

It’s precisely because I know the local roads so well that I’m able to get things done so smoothly.

It's not something you can just easily do in other areas.

 

It really is a pain to have amateurs who don't seem to understand any of that complaining, isn't it?

Even so, we in the construction industry will keep quietly going about our work!!!

I don't think there's any other job as cool as this!

After the snow is plowed at night, by morning ordinary people are driving to work as if nothing had happened.

For snow removal contractors, that's just part of their day job.

That's really tough.

And yet, it’s treated as if it were the most natural thing in the world!!

It's so cool, isn't it!!!

 

Civil engineering is the unsung hero of public infrastructure!

We may not be flashy by any means, but without us, people wouldn’t even be able to get by.

The real thrill of being a construction worker is the hidden coolness of the job!

 

Young people might not realize this, but,
