I Went to the 2024 Chubu Construction Technology Fair! (Part 2)

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

I Went to the 2024 Chubu Construction Technology Fair! (Part 1)

System Solar House with a Toilet

Have you heard of this product called "System Solar House"?

System Solar House with a Toilet

This product features a solar power system on the roof and comes with a toilet.

The interior looks something like this—it’s basically just a standard construction site office with a restroom attached.

Well, it's a product where they've combined a playhouse and a toilet into one... It's the kind of thing that just makes you go, "Huh."

Since it has a battery, I've heard it can be used for three days even when there's no sunlight.

It's great that no electrical work is needed, isn't it?

If there's no electricity at the construction site office, they have to use a generator behind the office, which can be pretty noisy, right?

It's nice that it doesn't have that.

Toyota Ninja

This is what's commonly called a camper van—the kind you can use during disasters, lol.

Toyota is so cool again, isn't it!

Direct Cars

It's just that the price is... lol

So, I gave it some thought.

Since we're a mobile slope maintenance crew, we have to cover the cost of lodging and the depreciation on this vehicle.

Generally speaking, I think we've been doing slope work with a crew of about four people lately.

Five people would be fine, but for now, I'll base my calculations on the minimum number.

Since we have two days off per week, we calculate based on 21 days per month.

Accommodation Costs Number of people Per day the 21st
9,000 4 36,000 756,000

The room rates are on par with those at business hotels in the countryside.

Ryokans are nice, but their numbers have been declining lately.

I'll calculate this without taking travel allowances or other factors into account.

Let's assume that one-third of the year is spent on business trips.

Under the above conditions,

756,000 yen × 4 months = 3,024,000 yen

Assuming a camper van costs 14,000,000 yen,

14,000,000 yen ÷ 3,024,000 yen = 4.6 years ≈ 5 years

If the depreciation period is five years, everything after that will be reflected in profits, so that’s a pretty significant amount, isn’t it?

The only problem is being in the same space with people other than family members...Always thereThat kind of pain, lol

Instant House

The selling price of this instant house is 12,000 yen.

I think it would be a good idea to set this up on site (if it's in the mountains).

Since this is a construction site, cover this with a blue tarp and raise the floor by one level.

It’s totally fine to say, “This is what we’ll use for the field office, too,” right?

It's so cheap, after all!

It's the kind of thing where you'd just say, "Oh well, it's no big deal if it breaks, right?"

In the end, will we just burn it and call it a day, or toss it in the industrial waste bin? lol

When you think about it, while there are plenty of high-end, luxury temporary offices, there aren’t any made out of cardboard.

Even if you rent one from a leasing company, it costs tens of thousands every month.

Is there anything out there that lets you do that easily with a kit?

If we could arrange office space and accommodations more easily, we could cut costs significantly.

If a manufacturer reached out to me, I’d consider it, though lol

See you later.
