It seems my blog post from the other day wasn't published due to some kind of mistake, so I'm posting this at the very last minute!
I almost stopped updating! lol

It's important to check for updates, isn't it?
But that's beside the point.

The bolt on the top of the cylinder is broken. How do I remove it?
Well, anyone who does repairs will probably figure it out easily. (It's a pain to take apart.)

I welded a slightly smaller bolt into the spot where the original bolt had broken and tried turning it, but it showed absolutely no sign of coming loose.
So, I guess the only option left is to tap in the opposite direction.
First, drill a hole about 3 mm in diameter in the center of this head.
Next, I drilled a hole about 7 mm in diameter.

Most of the bolts in places like this are high-tension bolts, so they're really tough to loosen!
This task is extremely difficult.
After drilling the hole, drive this reverse tap into it.

To use a reverse tap, drive it into the hole (so it seats properly) and turn it counterclockwise; the tap will then screw itself in to the right.
If you look closely at the photo above, you'll see that the screw part of the tap is facing the wrong way, right?
You can remove a bolt that has broken off like this.
If it still won't come off, you can try heating it slightly to expand the metal and remove it that way.
There are various methods, but I think the reverse tap is the most common one.
Reverse taps are sold in sets, so if you have a few on hand, they'll come in handy when you need them.
If you're going to do maintenance, that's when it comes up, lol.
By the way, I don't have any photos from this point onward yet.
That's because a customer showed up while I was working on it, so I had to stop and do something else instead.
