Annual Health Checkups | Scope of Regular Employees

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Do you do this once a year? lol

Health Checkup!

For short-term employment, such as day labor, a medical examination is not required, but

"Full-time" workers—regardless of whether they are regular employees, part-time employees, or temporary workers—are required to undergo a health examination either immediately before or immediately after being hired.

◆ Persons Included in the Definition of “Regular Employees”

Fixed-term employees

・Individuals with a contract term of one year or more
・Individuals who are expected to be employed for at least one year following a contract renewal
・Individuals who have continued to use the service for more than one year following a contract renewal

Part-time workers

・The number of weekly working hours is the same as that of a regular worker engaged in the same type of work at that workplace,
An employee who works at least three-quarters of the prescribed number of working hours (or, even if less than three-quarters, generally at least one-half)
(It is recommended that a health checkup be conducted in such cases.)

*Temporary agency workers are not included. (The staffing agency is responsible for ensuring they undergo the examination.)
*This does not include sole proprietors and other self-employed individuals who routinely conduct business without employing any workers.

Self-employed contractors must undergo their own health checkups, and they may be required to provide proof of having undergone the checkup to their employer (the general contractor).

All costs will be borne by the company (business operator).

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act,"This must be carried out under the responsibility of the business operator (company or individual)."It is said that...

If, for example, symptoms such as liver problems are detected after your medical examination,

It is necessary to notify the individual so that they can improve their lifestyle habits and undergo treatment.

If an employer allowed an employee to work without taking any measures, even while aware of the employee’s health condition,

It seems that businesses may sometimes face claims for damages.

Even if an employee’s condition worsens after drinking alcohol on their own responsibility,

If no treatment or other measures are taken,

This means the company will also be held responsible.

Recently, at major construction sites and sites managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, we’ve been asked for documentation regarding health checkups (to show that we’re taking them seriously).

There are also tasks such as submitting [...].

If you haven't had a health checkup yet, please be sure to get one.

There's a chance you might not be able to work on-site if you don't have social insurance, right?

See you later.
