Last year, there were two accidents at our company.
Details of the Accident
In one case, a worker’s hand got caught between a concrete hopper and a road sign while pouring concrete, resulting in a work-related injury (the flesh on his little finger was torn off).
In one case, while driving a pile, the worker placed his hand on top of the pile and struck his finger with the hammer, resulting in the incident being reclassified from a non-lost-time injury to a lost-time injury.
(I believe the branch manager of a major general contractor was at fault here; he tried to classify it as a work-related injury that required taking time off, so he made the worker go back to the site, resulting in the wound becoming infected in the middle of summer and requiring hospitalization.)
It’s not unprecedented for our company to have had two accidents in a single year, and we believe the increase in the number of accidents is due to the growth in both our workforce and the number of job sites.

That really is Heinrich's Law in action.
I think there had been a string of minor accidents leading up to that point.
To be honest, I don't really pay attention to minor accidents (injuries).
Like, say, cutting your fingertip with a utility knife. (Even if it happened to me, I wouldn't think anything of it.)
I suppose it's the accumulation of incidents like this that leads to accidents.
This Year's Measures
It's best to report even minor accidents (injuries) to others (by sharing the information with fellow employees) whenever possible.
Even if you cut your fingertip by 1 mm with a utility knife and it started bleeding, for example.
I think just reporting and sharing information can make people more mindful.
And the manager (foreman) can also say, “Everyone, please be careful!” right?
At this year's Enta, we'll work to create an environment where we can share reports like this.

Daizen Industries has a long history—they’re the company that applied the sprayed concrete finish to the Tower of the Sun!

As stated in the PDF document linked above, Daizen Kogyo Co., Ltd. employs skilled craftsmen.
I’ve had a long-standing relationship with Daizen Industries—it’s been about 25 years now.
I’ve known the current president since the time of the president two terms ago, and we’re on good terms both professionally and personally; this is what you might call a generational transition.
I will be joining as a board member.
I intend to do my very best to support them and work hard together as a team.
Until now, we have primarily served as a general contractor specializing in slope stabilization (slope stabilization, civil engineering, and slope stabilization subcontractors), but going forward, we plan to expand our services to include ground anchors, rebar installation, and scaffolding work.
We plan to develop the company over the next few years into a contractor capable of handling all types of slope work.
The Entagroup will have a total of more than 50 people.
If the general contractor calls me, I’ll go anywhere, as many times as needed!
We handle all aspects—design, construction management, and construction—in-house.
If Daizen Industries cannot handle it, we will resolve the issue through outsourcing to companies outside the group.
After all, being able to handle the entire project from start to finish gives the general contractor’s supervisor peace of mind and makes coordination much easier, doesn’t it?
