The other day, I attended a technical training session held by VSL Japan, a ground anchor contractor.
I basically always attend study sessions like this. (Almost always.)
The reason is new technology.
While it’s important to go to the job site and prepare documents every day, it’s also important to attend demonstrations of the latest technologies.
Whether you know that or not will have an impact on something in the future.
Well, I think it’s important to “roll that out” to everyone, too ^^
The VSL Association had a new anchor head.
It's actually pretty big, lol.
It looks like it's about 1.5 times the size of a regular head.
It appears that a section has been added to the bottom, allowing you to check the area under the head during lift-off and other situations.

Since we are now in an era of maintenance and management, it seems that methods for verifying past ground anchors are being explored.
I don't have an opinion on which one is good or bad at the moment, but,
On-site, it’s best to keep things as simple and as light as possible, right? ^^

So, that was an update on the development of a system that uses plastic optical fibers to visually alert users to early signs or abnormalities.
For example, developing a system that can immediately alert users visually if there are any changes in the mountain's appearance.
It was an amazing system.
What's so amazing is that it's actually pretty simple and easy!!
It's very simple—if light passes through, it's OK; if it's blocked, it's a fail.
It was a really interesting lecture, especially the part about displaying data with color coding.
It must have taken quite a while to come up with this idea, and while it was probably expensive at first, I hear it can be done quite cheaply now.
I thought that an era was coming when we would be able to easily check quality visually using such simple technology.
