I went to the airport the other day.

A flight departing from Nagoya International Airport (Centrair) at 9:00 a.m. on July 10, bound for Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

I was waiting in front of the counter first thing in the morning at 7:30.

Because I had promised to go to the airport on my own.

To confirm that the intern from the other day has returned home.

And to hand out my final paycheck! (Though I pretty much skipped work at the end, so there wasn't much left, lol)

Today is the day the technical interns are returning home! But...!?

 

It was only an hour and a half, but waiting for someone who doesn't show up really does feel like a long time, lol.

This kind of thing is a pain, isn't it?

It would be great if they came, but if they don't, their visa won't be renewed, so they'll be overstaying.

You'll just end up as an undocumented immigrant.

 

That said, being an undocumented immigrant in Japan isn't really a serious crime, so if you're caught, you'll just be sent back.

Even if they committed a crime in that country, since there’s no proven causal link, they’ll just be allowed to leave the country—and that’s it, goodbye!

Well, it seems like other countries aren't really that strict either.

It’s okay to just say, “I couldn’t do it because I didn’t understand the language.”

For the time being, I waited until boarding was complete, went to the departure counter to check if that Vietnamese person was among the departing passengers, and then came back.

 

Well, they didn't show up, though lol

So, in the end, it looks like I'll be overstaying my visa, so,

We'll go through the proper procedures, which include filing a missing person report with the police and notifying the union.

From there, the matter will be referred to the agency, which will then notify the Immigration Bureau.

 

Well, I guess the person who’s gone missing doesn’t care one bit about us and is just doing whatever they want.

To be honest, it makes me angry and frustrated, so I think I'll do everything I can.

For example, I want to make it as hard as possible for them to commit crimes—like closing their Japan Post Bank account or removing them from the resident registry lol.

 

If anything, I'm thinking of uploading a photo of my face and creating a webpage listing me as a missing person (I'm currently checking with the relevant companies to see if this is okay).

For example, making it possible to upload photos of missing Vietnamese people from all over the country so they can be searched for anywhere, or

How about making it searchable so employers can look it up?

 

I think it's also important to create an environment that makes it as difficult as possible to get work done.

I felt a strong desire to put an end to the notion that anyone can easily find work in Japan and make good money.

We also welcome information from anyone who is facing various difficulties.

I hope they’ll at least feel a little sorry for their fellow countrymen who are working hard and doing their best.

It seems to me that Japanese people are increasingly coming to dislike Vietnamese people.
