I Tried Making a Thick Casing Tube | DIY

It's cold on site, huh? lol

Anyway, I tried making a custom casing for a job site where we’ve been using core-drilling bits since last year.

The effective length is 280 mm, and the shoulder wall is 2.5 mm thicker than that of the original casing tube.

It has a more substantial feel than the stock version.

When you install the genuine bit, the outer diameter is about 0.1 mm larger.

The shoulder is just under 1 mm thick, but since the inner diameter is on the thick side, it might get caught here. Figuring out how to handle this area is a challenge for the future.

What's more, the casing tubes shown in this photo—which have undergone surface hardening (nitriding)—are scheduled to arrive today.

After all, since the casing tube is subject to severe wear and tear, we hardened it by heat treatment rather than using it in its raw state.

 

I guess we're probably the only ones who use this method to make the casing tubes and then heat-treat them, huh? lol

When you think about it, the hardness of the concrete is just right, and it’s also easy to work with. (It’s easy to drill holes in it.)

I'm amazed at how hard the soil is. And even though it's hard, it crumbles so easily!

 

Drilling into natural rock definitely requires heavy-duty casing tubes, and I think this will significantly improve durability.

It looks like the experiment will continue for a while.
