It seems the world has already gone so far as to take a 9-day holiday—the other day, when I went to return a submersible pump I’d rented for a day, I was told the holiday had already started...
No, it's fine.
Some people can take a break, while others can't.
That's just how it is. Especially on construction sites, when you're pressed for time, you can't take a day off—and even when you're not, you can't take a day off because of the next phase of work, lol.
I guess I don't really get that many days off, after all.
However, as a company, we’d like employees to take as much time off as possible if they can.
Since the Vietnamese are in the same situation, it’s kind of like, “If you have time, just take a break.”
On top of that, recently, the schedule on-site has been delayed or moved up—perhaps due to COVID-19, natural disasters, or the rainy season?—making it difficult to coordinate.
That said, when I'm not out in the field, I'm at the office doing machine maintenance and all sorts of other stuff, lol.
And in the midst of all that, at work...Field Log SystemWe have implemented it.
I know some of you might be thinking, “Wait, now?!” but yeah, that’s right lol
I finally added it, lol.
It’s all-in-one management of quotes, budgets, costs, time and attendance, payments, and receipts, right?
It goes without saying that large companies can do this, but small businesses like ours might find it difficult to get in.
I imagine it’s something that a few administrative staff members all pitch in to do at the end of the month.
Actually, with the right approach, a single administrative staff member is more than enough to handle sales of around 200 million to 400 million.
And I feel like if we implement a system like this, one person could probably handle sales of up to about 500 million lol
Well, that office worker must have it rough, lol (Time to give her a big raise!)
We've been using Excel up until now, but from now on we'll be relying on the system.
Implementing the system will likely allow us to track our costs in even greater detail than before.
That said, it’s not like calculating the exact costs makes any difference, lol (detailed cost management doesn’t really serve a purpose anyway, and it’s a waste of time).
The important thing about cost management is that it gives you some insight into the flow of money.
How much money is left in the budget?
How do you compare volume and price action?
How much longer do I have before I have to finish?
You know what I mean, right?
We can take that current situation and apply it to our work on the ground.
If you're doing something wrong, you can figure out what to do about it and ask for advice, right?
We implemented it for that reason as well.
With so many products to choose from, I went with one from a relatively major brand that seemed easy to use.
If it doesn't work out, I'll just buy a new one in a few years lol
If you have a system in place, it will handle the calculations even if you don't fully understand cost management.
Regardless of whether it's good or bad, I think that if we could simplify those aspects even a little, we'd be able to focus more on technology and other matters.
And above all, if the system is flawed, then the system is to blame!
With Excel, calculation errors are your own fault, lol.
That kind of wasted effort will be a thing of the past.
