Even if we apply a temporary spray coating, it won't be able to withstand the earth pressure coming from the back.
The section above that is still being secured with rock bolts, so it’s holding up for now.
What should you do in a situation like this?
If you apply a temporary coat in this condition, it will crumble after just one rain.
This really makes things tricky and difficult, but government agencies often don't take money into account.
But we have no choice but to do it, so we’ll just have to... (Maybe split the cost with the general contractor?)
1. Drive in the drainage pipe, direct the water flow, and then spray again.
2. Stack large sandbags (depending on the extent of the collapse) to serve as a retaining wall, while applying sprayed mortar from above.
3. Direct water flow to the spring area (using a permeable mat), then apply sprayed mortar from above
4. If there is too much water, use a permeable mat and a blue tarp over part of the top, and then apply the mortar by spraying it from above.
It’s generally something like this, but please treat all of it with water as much as possible.
If possible, please be very careful when reinforcing this section, as doing so could cause other parts to collapse.
Once the work on the upper section is complete, we recommend using a dewatering drilling method if possible.
Even if it's only about 4 meters, draining the water around it will stabilize it immediately.
It's true that we might be able to secure it with rock bolts.
However, when it rains heavily, the water there might be completely full, and eventually...
If you think about it, draining the water will at least give you some peace of mind for now.
It's very important to manage the water that's causing the problem effectively.
To ensure a smooth spray application afterward, you can use a formwork frame as shown below or try other techniques—this makes the process easy and results in a nice finish.
All you have to do is reinforce the cross-section with mesh.
If you do it this way, you can get the surface to line up in just one or two tries.
