It’s pretty rare for a main rope—one that usually doesn’t break even when it’s being rubbed hard against the edge of a mountain—to actually snap.

I don't know the details, but you should probably find out why it broke.

Realistically speaking, I can't help but think they were using a rope that was pretty worn out.

Even the rope that got caught up in the landslide didn't snap, did it...
