The other day, I took a peek at the drainpipe next to the place where I went for a meeting lol
It’s not like you ever see it after installation, is it? lol
I took a peek at that place and thought, “Whoa!” so I figured I’d write about it.
The rocks are surprisingly beautiful, aren't they?
There weren't any large cracks either.
It seemed as though that was helping to prevent weathering, at least to some extent.
It would've been even better if I'd hit it with a hammer, though ^^
I inspected dozens of the drainage pipes below, and it seemed that they were helping to slow down the weathering process.
The property line happened to be right where the prefectural land and private land met.
The area next to it was quite weathered.
Completely worn out.
It's the kind of thing that falls off easily if you give it a little nudge.

This is strictly for the purpose of preventing weathering and controlling weeds on the surface treatment.
Seeing them side by side like this makes it easy to understand and is a great learning experience.
You can see this clearly if you look inside the drain pipe.
Where plants are growing out of the drainage pipe, the interior has indeed weathered and turned into sediment. (Weathering occurs in some areas along the water channels inside the mortar.)
On the flip side, in a way, if it turns into a pile of dirt, plants will grow there, so it’s easy to tell how healthy it is, lol. (Is a mortar surface overrun with plants a bad sign?)
You might make some new discoveries by looking at places you don't usually look at.
Peeking is a no-no, but please do take a peek inside the drain pipe lol
