I Tried Using a PC Spacer | A Rookie’s Mistake: Cutting a Hydraulic Hose Too Short

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

The other day, there was a young guy at work who was performing maintenance on the hydraulic hoses of a large drilling machine.

Hydraulic Hose Crimping

While replacing a worn-out hose, I should have simply removed it to check its length, but—

I'm using a scale to measure it roughly and cutting the hydraulic hose.

Sure enough, the hose was more than 10 centimeters too short, and to make matters worse, they’d crimped a different type of fitting onto it...

I can manage the hose, but since the fittings are single-use, I have to cut them off, which makes the hose even shorter lol

Well, since we sell hydraulic hoses, we can offer them at a reasonably low price, but even so...

Failure is the mother of success, right??

That's true, isn't it??

But that's beside the point.

I Tried Using a PC Spacer

My First PC Spacer!! This spacer is made of PC steel.

This is it!!

Don't you get it?? lol

As expected, matching the color of the galvanized finish is really tough!

I really can't see it.

I can't see where it's installed. Or rather, it's really hard to see!

PC Spacers Are Here

What do you think?? lol

Can you see it??

From a craftsman’s perspective, it’s easier to install while checking the view, but,

From an admin's perspective, I feel like it's a bit off to be expected to handle administration, lol.

In the past, we used to install them based on the superstition that 1.8 units per square meter was the standard—an unspoken rule—but now it’s based on market price.

There is no requirement to install spacers, but during inspections, what standards are used to manage them? How many are typically installed?

When people say that, I find myself thinking, “Hmm…” about situations where I have no choice but to manage things.

Well, if you want some color, I think you should just give it a quick spray of red spray paint the day before you use it.

This project was also submitted thanks to our creative efforts to ensure proper thickness and finish quality.

Also, since it’s not made of plastic, it should theoretically be less prone to cracking.

I haven't been able to verify this yet, though.

This is what it looks like.

Since it's made of spring steel, it stands upright as if it were being held open to the left and right by the force of the spring.

Since these photos show the installation on level ground, it might indeed be vulnerable if stepped on from above. I’ll check the slope tomorrow.

It’s definitely a challenge when someone’s body weight is put on it.

That said, any spacer will come off pretty much the same way, lol.

And setting it up was surprisingly easy.

I guess you won't know until you try it on, but I went ahead and recorded a video just in case.

*Please be mindful of the volume, as sound will play.

What do you think??

Our craftsman said that once they get the hang of it, it’s no different from other products.

You can't complain until you've tried it, lol.
