In this post, I’d like to write a bit about adjusting the mix for spray application.

You know how they do on-site mix adjustments at spray-applied construction sites, right?

 

I'm sure some of you are wondering, "What on earth is this?"

Starting from the very basics, lol

 

Sprayed mortar = 1:4 mortar = 1 part cement to 4 parts fine aggregate

Sprayed concrete = 1:4:1 concrete = 1 part cement : 4 parts fine aggregate : 1 part coarse aggregate

Water-to-cement ratio (W/C): 45–55% Amount of water relative to cement

 

Sprayed Mortar: Cement Content per 1 m³: 420 kg

Sprayed Concrete: Cement Content per 1 m³: 360 kg

 

This is the basis of the formula.

This used to be included in the design specifications, but now that it’s based on market prices, it’s no longer listed.

 

The on-site mix design is determined based on this standard mix design.

The specific gravity of sand and cement varies depending on the region where they are purchased.

To ensure consistency, we make adjustments to the mix on-site and then apply the spray.

 

However, there is a problem here: the sand varies from region to region.

These variations relate to strength and workability.

They say the sand in this area is good and has high strength, but the sand in that area has low strength.

What's more, even though I buy washed sand, some of it is sticky or contains a lot of mud.

There are some aspects of this that you just won't know until you actually try it.

Use this to measure the amount of sand per 1 BT (1 batch) and add it.

 

Officially, we're adjusting the mix and carrying out the work, lol.

As mentioned above, depending on the region, there are types of sand that are very difficult to work with.
