And there are people who get so flustered that they let that fortune slip of theirs dictate what happens next, aren't there?
I think, “Then don’t back out!” Besides, fortune-telling is a business, after all.
Generally speaking, donations are tax-exempt. (This is common knowledge, isn't it?)
That's why they say "monks make a killing," lol.
However, in the case of omikuji, they are subject to taxation.
The reason is that we purchase our fortune slips from a fortune slip supplier.
Since there are purchases involved, taxes are levied on the sales.
Therefore, items such as ema are also subject to tax.
However, there are some questionable practices, such as praying for ○○.
Even in the section that says “Whatever you’d like to contribute,” it says the minimum is 5,000 yen.
That’s supposed to be a prayer service, so it’s tax-exempt, but they’ve listed the price... It’s kind of a gray area, lol.
And the goma sticks are in a bit of a weird spot, too...
And above all, it says to burn it while praying, but that’s a bit iffy, too.
They just dump it all into a drum behind a temple or something and set it on fire, right? lol
This might end up sounding like one of those "behind-the-scenes" stories about temples and stuff, but I actually know a lot about this, lol.
What surprised me the most was that there’s an online store for monks.
From stone statues like lanterns and Jizō figures to kesa robes, tabi socks, geta, setta, and omikuji—just about everything
Monk-themed merchandise is available for purchase online.
Of course, it’s ○○ times the list price.

Please be very careful, everyone.

God’s embrace is immeasurably vast, and He watches over us with boundless compassion.
We don't punish people for trivial, minor things.
It's always humans who dish out the punishment, lol.
People are the ones who commit the most dangerous acts.
That's definitely human error lol

Cognitive Biases Arising from Heuristics
Here are the anchor heuristics from the other day.
So they end up mistakenly believing that what was written on the fortune slip actually came true.
It means people were drawn in by the content of the fortune slip.
The interpretation is that it became more convenient for that person, and since it says so on the fortune slip, there’s nothing to be done about it.
So, if fortune slips only said good things, everyone would be happy, right?

At a worksite like that, it wouldn't be surprising if an accident happened at any time.
