Slopes: From the Era of Vegetation to the Era of Mortar (Concrete)

In the future, the areas within these landscaped slopes will be replaced with mortar.

 

That said, this trend has been gaining momentum over the past few years, and

As you all know, the reason is that the number of people in management roles is steadily declining.

The property manager mows the grass, cleans the area, and maintains it.

 

About 25 years ago, when I first started working on slope stabilization, it was all about “Greening! Greening! Why aren’t you greening it!?”

It was an era when people were saying, “Let’s green even concrete surfaces!”

About 10 years later, the section from the road surface up to a vertical height of 1.5 to 2.0 meters was replaced with sprayed mortar.

The reason is that landscaping along roads requires significant funds for maintenance.

And in recent years, there has been a shift toward using mortar (concrete) for the entire surface.

 

I didn't like the idea of using mortar in some areas and planting greenery in others, so I actually like the current trend lol.

When I thought about things like machine setup changes and minimizing material waste, I really felt like it was such a waste.

If you just slap on a layer of mortar, you’ll reduce material waste, and it’s so much easier with this single-step method.

 

However, as local governments face increasingly severe conditions in the future, they will likely shift to construction methods that require less maintenance, and,

I think the design will turn out that way, too.

Construction methods that minimize operating costs as much as possible are likely to gain prominence.

 

 

I’m curious about future construction methods, but for now, since it’s starting to get hot, it’s a good time to start taking precautions against heatstroke.
