Maintenance After Using Air Tools and Machinery | Tips for Extending Service Life

What they all have in common is lubricant.

Be sure to apply a small amount of lubricant to the unit and inside the hose before use.

Putting them in this way significantly increases the durability of your tools.

Rock Drill

Be sure to fill the line oiler—which is always attached to rock drills and route hammers—with oil.

Line Euler, in particular, is essential.

The reason this is necessary is that the air from a compressor always contains moisture.

What happens when this moisture adheres to the metal parts inside an air tool?

If you think about it logically, you'll realize it'll rust, lol.

That's why it constantly lubricates the parts to minimize metal-to-metal friction and also protects against rust.

 

And if possible—this is the important part—please be sure to lubricate it without using compressed air after each use.

By "after use" here, I mean the maintenance performed once the job is finished.

After use, spray lubricant into each part with a "whoosh"—without using compressed air from the compressor.

Just doing this much will significantly reduce the likelihood of problems the next time you use it.

 

There are actually more problems with rust on machinery than you might think.

Especially the air-powered machines.

Be sure to lubricate it after each use!!

If possible, it's a good idea to drain the water from the line oiler as well.
