A Great Find (*The Jinguan Zhengyao*)

Hello, everyone

This is Enta.

Do you guys feel like your bosses or CEOs act all high and mighty or arrogant? lol

Act all high and mighty

Lately, I've been reading *The Jōgan Seiyō*, which is considered a textbook on the art of kingship.

In those stories, the advice to “surround yourself with people who will offer you constructive criticism” comes up quite often.

"To admonish" means "to tell someone to correct their mistakes or shortcomings; to give advice."

This is the kind of person who is especially needed by those in leadership roles.

I suppose it must feel good to hear people say, “Yes! That’s right!” or “Yes! You’re the best!!”

But doesn't that just make him the Emperor's New Clothes—someone who gets bashed and hated behind his back?

The Emperor's New Clothes

"It's all about me! I'm number one, so do what I say!"

However, when things go wrong or he makes a mistake, he’ll likely blame his subordinates.

What do you think?

Don't you have people like that among your prime contractors or your supervisors at work?

In my case, I get scolded quite a bit, lol.

My employees keep telling me things like, “Wouldn’t it be better to do it this way?” or “This won’t work, will it?”

I'm really grateful to have employees who point things out like this.

I have my own areas of expertise, and my subordinates and employees have theirs as well.

I think it would be really great if we could both grow by teaching others the areas we're each good at.

A company can't succeed unless it competes on the basis of its overall strength, right?

It doesn't work if only one person has charisma or if only one person is strong, does it?

He's kind of like Lü Bu from *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*, lol.

We'll support each other and compete.

It really is lonely when people don't point things out or warn you, isn't it?

I hope to become the kind of person who doesn’t get too full of myself, but is open to being told off by my subordinates and those around me so I can make changes.

If I've made any mistakes in this blog, please feel free to point them out.

Of course, if I'm wrong, I'll correct it and fill in the gaps lol

Do any of you have someone in your life who “calls you out” on your behavior?

Are there any bosses who aren't like that?

I'd recommend this book to people like that lol

I highly recommend this book to leaders and business executives as well.

If you want to learn more about this book (for advanced users), there’s a more detailed one out there, so I recommend checking that out too lol.

I found this one easier to read, lol

See you later
