How about your company?

I think there are many different types, ranging from major corporations to large local companies, and from contractor firms to sole proprietorships.

Every company has its own philosophy, management style, and methods, right?

Do you feel comfortable here? Or uncomfortable?

While everything depends on your own circumstances, isn't that proof that you're failing at changing jobs?

 

When changing jobs,Things You Must Never DoI'll let you know lol (I'm not saying you should change jobs lol)

That means, when talking about your own experience and skills, you shouldn't say things like, "I can do that!" or "I can do this!"

For example, “I’m super fast at assembling rebar—I can put together XX pieces a day!” or something like that

"The construction management for the driven piles is flawless!" or something like that

"Like, 'I've used 500 bags of cement in a single day!'" and so on.

 

If this were the U.S., I’d sell myself as best as I could to capitalize on my initial enthusiasm and land a high-paying job.

And if you can't do that, you'll be fired immediately in the U.S. (terminated)

Even if you do get the job, if you don't keep improving your skills, your salary will stay the same—and in the worst-case scenario, you'll get fired lol (They'll fire you right away!)

This is a true story about a friend of mine who lives in the U.S. lol

 

Japan is different.

Even if you initially secured a high salary by submitting a false report, you will not be fired.

In Japan, workers are better protected than employers, so it’s difficult to fire someone unless there’s a very good reason.

On the other hand, your salary will gradually and steadily decrease, and you’ll lose your place there.

In Japan, if you aren't sincere, people will dislike you.

 

Since evaluations are based on false reports, it leads to comments like, “But you said you could do XX!” or “You can’t do it at all!” right?

If that happens, people will question your humanity even more.

It’s only natural that I can no longer work at a company with decent people. (Isolation)

In that sense, Japanese people are strict.

 

We often tell our Vietnamese staff that Japanese people are strict, fussy, and really into cleanliness, lol.

So, just be careful about things like that.

When changing jobs, be honest about your experience and skills.Please.

If you answer honestly, your salary and benefits are sure to increase. (If you have skills beyond what’s required, you’ll see an increase even sooner!)

That's because Japanese people have a soft spot for people like that. (Although some people might say, "Well, that goes without saying!")

 

I feel like I want to do whatever I can to help people who are working hard get ahead. (Evaluations are always done by a third party.)

I think so, too.

On the other hand, what do you think of people who are selfish, only care about themselves, and, on top of that, are always badmouthing others?

Do you ever think about trying to get it back somehow?

 

If you honestly discuss your experience and skills, your job search will undoubtedly be a success.

Even now, with a recession looming amid the COVID-19 pandemic, job openings appear to be on the rise.

The civil engineering industry faces a chronic labor shortage.

There are plenty of "White" construction companies out there! lol

Please do your best to find a new job at a company where you can improve your skills, even if just a little.
