Handling Grout Uplift in Ground Anchor Construction | General Contractor and Contractor

Ground anchor work is currently underway at the site.

While drilling, grout spurted out of the hole from the anchor just before this one!Burst out

So, what should we do?

It’s common for a drilled hole to connect to an adjacent hole.

"For the holes to connect" means,

Let's assume we're carrying out the work in order.

When drilling a new hole and encountering water channels or joints underground, the pressure from the drilling fluid and air causes grout to blow out of holes that have already been drilled, anchored, and grouted.

Generally, when this happens, it comes out around the same spot, so you can tell where the connection is.

How would you handle a situation like this?

Of course, the approach will vary depending on the soil type.

 

Learning various approaches will change the way you handle meeting minutes with government agencies and respond to the general contractor.

And above all, this allows us to proceed with construction safely.

Submit in writing

This might sound a little crude, but,It also makes it clear where responsibility liesYou can do that.

In the worst-case scenario, the contractor could end up bearing all the responsibility.

When it comes to issues on-site, it’s best to make sure the general contractor and the local government are aware of them, and if possible, to submit a formal written report rather than just a verbal one.

Depending on the government office, they might not accept it or might refuse to process it, lol.

It seems like NEXCO's construction management team is blatantly turning a blind eye to this lol (Is their policy to avoid taking any responsibility whatsoever? lol)

    Since I’m currently working on the production side at the factory, I’ve been feeling a bit lonely because I can no longer talk directly with customers or keep up with market trends, but reading Enta’s blog really cheers me up.
    Well, this is a story from a while back, but I was reminded of a time when one of our clients (an anchor installation contractor) had a really hard time on a job site dealing with grout blowback and the drainage of drilling fluid. Since the site was near a mandarin orange grove, they couldn’t use any chemical-based agents. A few days later, when I visited the site, I was surprised to find that all their previous struggles had vanished—the work was proceeding smoothly. When I asked why, they told me they had finely chopped a large amount of dried seaweed (such as tengusa and wakame), rehydrated it with water, mixed it into the drilling fluid, and used it to fill the cracks inside the boreholes. I thought it sounded ridiculous at first, but they said that since it was seaweed, there was minimal impact on the surrounding area, and the results turned out exactly as expected. I suppose nowadays there are chemicals and other solutions available that make such measures unnecessary.

      Using seaweed is such a great idea! It certainly doesn't seem to have any negative effects, but these days it's kind of risky to buy organic products, so it's a bit dicey, lol.

      However, I completely understand your desire to do something about it.

      In a way, that's pretty ingenious, lol.

      However, even now, there aren't any products that are that good.

      I still feel that we haven't done enough!
