The ground anchor project we worked on over the past three months has now been completed.
We were working on seawall restoration at a coastal site.
The original revetment had collapsed due to the pull of the backwash.
The force of the backwash is really amazing, isn't it?
And this anchor was installed to counteract the reaction force of that wake.
That period of tension finally came to an end the other day.
And, as usual, do you all remember the ritual we used to do before putting on our caps?
Before putting the cap on this.
What must be done without fail?
That's right.
Applying rust-preventive oil!
I don't think many contractors go this far, but I'd really like them to do a thorough job if possible.
Since the Ground Anchor Maintenance Manual also emphasizes the importance of anti-rust oil, let's make sure to apply it thoroughly here.
That said, the rust-preventive oil itself apparently lasts only about five years, so in reality, you’ll need to replace it every five years...
Once you've applied the coating thoroughly up to this point, fill the cap with rust-preventive oil, screw the cap on, and you're done.
The key to ground anchor construction is the head treatment!
