The other day, I stopped by a general contractor’s job site that’s nearing completion to run some errands ^^
With completion just around the corner, it’s looking absolutely stunning—wow, what a sight!
It's so cool, isn't it!!
At the erosion control dam site, our company was responsible for constructing one of the slope stabilizations.
Temporary support without formwork. I’m told they’ll be using mortar to construct the upper section of the weir after the formwork is installed.
I hear the right bank section will be put out to bid next, so I’m really counting on the general contractor lol
Based on our past experience, whenever we’ve built erosion control dams, we’ve installed rebar in the side slopes.
There isn't one this time.
It's surprising that there are actually some erosion control dams without rebar inserts, lol.
I guess the erosion control dams we're called out to are the only ones that have rebar inserts; there are probably plenty of other erosion control dams out there.
Sometimes I find myself being called to earthwork sites like this.
The construction methods haven't really changed much—or rather, they've hardly changed at all—whether in the past or today, have they?
It’s the same in our slope engineering industry—what we do hasn’t changed much from 30 years ago. (As far as I know.)
Well, the simpler the construction method, the harder it seems to be changed, but,
Since change requires energy, it doesn't happen very often.
But it's about time for a breath of fresh air, isn't it?
A few years have gone by while I kept thinking that, lol.
I haven't been able to create even a gentle breeze myself, but I've decided on my own that maybe this year I'll try to make even a gentle breeze blow.
I've been doing all sorts of experiments with a lathe lately, so I hope to be able to show you the results soon.
I can’t bring about the kind of change that major companies can in this stagnant construction industry, but,
