There’s been talk recently about registering our construction structure in a major general contractor’s proprietary system.

What's more, the construction is already finished.

I suppose most people would just say "OK" and agree, but personally, I'm like, "Huh? Why?"

That's how it turned out.

These days, the entire construction plan can be put together using the information registered on construction websites.

What’s more, the Construction Career Advancement System is set to go into operation.

What do you mean, "Just leave it there and register it in the general contractor's proprietary system"?

That's what I think. Yes. (Of course, we submit all safety documents before starting construction.)

 

And that consent form is really condescending, isn't it?

"The information contained in the safety-related documents to be submitted is true and accurate; in the event of any falsehoods, the submitter agrees not to object to any strict disciplinary action that may be taken."

How would you interpret this?

This is just one sentence, but there are other parts of the text that are written in a way that really grates on me.

 

"You want me to sign a consent form like that and send it back...?"

There's no way I'd send that, lol.

"A wise person avoids danger."

Even major general contractors can do strange things sometimes.

If I don't sign this consent form, they'll probably say, "Well, then you can't come onto our site!"

So I guess the plan is to use that as an excuse to get the subcontractors to sign.

What's more, I think this system is designed to lock in contractors.

I'm pretty sure the DB (database) is definitely being used for other purposes. (Personal opinion)

You can see at a glance where the ○○ contractors are located in ○○ Prefecture.

If you're in a different prefecture, you can skip the first-tier subcontractor and make an appointment directly with that contractor from another prefecture.

With general contractors also struggling to find subcontractors (construction companies), we’ll be in trouble if we don’t expand our options for construction firms.

 

Until now,

Major General Contractor → Major Specialized Contractor → Construction Contractor

From now on,

Major General Contractor → Construction Contractor

Of course, it goes without saying that a construction contractor must be capable of managing construction projects—but if they’re registered, that’s immediately obvious.

It seems that from now on, we’ll be able to take on direct construction projects with major general contractors—something that used to be out of our reach. (Depending on the contract amount.)

 

If that's your thing, go ahead and sign up, but we don't need it lol.

I'm not interested in working for a major general contractor.

We want to be a company deeply rooted in the local community.

If the local general contractors in each prefecture can turn a profit, we’ll make money too.

I'd like to have that kind of relationship.

 

There is a very real possibility that, going forward, various companies will introduce their own in-house systems in addition to the Construction Career Up System.

Please make sure to give this careful consideration before submitting your consent form or other documents.

By the way, the client for this project is a mid-sized general contractor (with annual revenue of 150 to 300 billion).
