I'm sure you're familiar with wooden sheet piles.

It looks something like the photo above, doesn't it?

Did something seem off to you at first glance?

I didn't notice it at all either, but the general contractor said something was off lol

This is what it looked like when it was first installed.

It's packed just right.

Apparently, a gap like this opened up a few weeks later!!!

Even if you look at the wide-angle photo above, you can see it's open in some places, right? lol

And on top of that, it’s actually open even though it’s securely screwed shut!?

Even though both sides are secured with screws and shouldn't move at all, a gap has formed.

What is this?

If you think about it normally, you might wonder if it shrank due to the wood expanding and contracting, right?

But even if it's secured with screws, does only that part shrink??

That's what you're thinking, right? lol

Actually, when I really think about it, the wooden sheet piles we’ve used so far definitely had gaps in them.

But why? I had never even thought about that.

It’s important to ask “Why?” even about things we usually take for granted.

Even though I’m the one saying, “Question your everyday life!” I still wasn’t doing it myself, lol.

I guess I still have a lot to learn, lol.
