The Power of Distraction Over Concentration | How to Manage Attention on a Construction Site

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Are there any people who get so focused on that one thing while working that they lose sight of what's going on around them?

Concentration

Because they are so focused, they can't see anything but themselves and don't notice the changes happening around them.

Concentration is absolutely essential!

What's more, it's actually quite difficult to focus on that, but if I focus too much, I lose sight of what's going on around me.

If you cannot see your surroundings, you may be slow to notice abnormalities or dangers and take evasive action.

While it’s fine to give it your all when focusing at a desk, focusing while working on-site can often be dangerous.

On the job site, you need to be able to stay focused while still keeping an eye on your surroundings.

Don't focus too much.

The key to broadening your horizons is, of course, being mindful of it—but how can you actually do that?

First, the important thing to keep in mind is,

Identify what you tend to focus onThat's what you need to do.

Is it an anchor operation, rebar tying, formwork assembly, or a nozzle?

Which tasks do you tend to throw yourself into wholeheartedly?

First, let's try to identify it.

If you pay attention to which task you're focusing on, it becomes harder to concentrate.

When that happens, your field of vision suddenly widens, and you can suddenly hear the voices around you.

Maybe one of my companions shouted a warning about falling rocks, or I noticed that the casing was slightly cracked.

The key skill needed on the job is the ability to keep an eye on your surroundings!

I deliberately shift my focus away from what I'm concentrating on to take in my surroundings.

By doing so, both the preparatory work and the actual construction should go quite smoothly.

It might seem like what people call "multitasking," but you don't actually have to be able to do so many things at once.

As they say in JapanThoughtfulnessThat's what I mean.Attention to detail is important on the job siteWhat?!

Being considerate of everyone on the job site—including myself—is what leads to safe, efficient, and high-quality construction work.

Work by taking full responsibility for everything yourself, rather than blaming othersMy attention was drawn to all sorts of things, and

A job that allows you to be attentive to othersIt will turn out like this.

Pay attention to what you're focusing on and try to shift your focus.

Spread out rather than concentrate!

See you later.
