In ground anchor construction, there are some spots where drilling is difficult, aren't there?

This happens especially when sand gets blown up into the casing at the anchorage point.

And once again, there was a particularly challenging construction site where nearly 1 meter of sand seeped into the casing during the final stabilization layer.

It would be fine if it were just sand, but it’s actually sand-mixed silt, so the silt that dissolves in water gets sucked into the drainage holes and gets filtered out by the sand, lol.

And then it gets clogged up, so you can't drill anymore, right?

The tip of the inner part is completely packed with clay, lol.

Grouting Drilling

In such cases, drilling with cement slurry increases the internal pressure, preventing sand and silt from entering the borehole.

We call it “cementing drilling” here, but it’s also sometimes referred to as “grouting drilling.”

It's not a method I'd really recommend, but,

If it's just the last one, for example, you'll find it's most effective to approach it as if you're going to throw away an entire batch of cement.

 

So, instead of injecting it from the machine this time, I tried attaching a valve to the swivel and injecting it that way.

Cementing Boreholes

Attach the cheese to the swivel, and when drilling for grouting, tighten the machine side and drill with grout.

That way, the machine doesn't get very dirty, so it saves you a little time on cleaning.

Normally, just putting a blind cap on here is enough to solve the problem.

It's just a little trick.

 

Soil conditions like this are quite common in temporary ground anchor construction, and

It helps to be familiar with various drilling methods.

 

There is also a method of drilling by using polymer materials to increase the viscosity of the drilling fluid, but,

I was worried that impurities might get into the cement slurry in the settled layer, so I decided against it this time.

It might be useful in rebar installation work when the casing is tightened against a slope, though.

 

I imagine there are various approaches based on each company’s past experience, but,

To ensure the work is done as reliably as possible, I want to tackle challenging job sites armed with solid knowledge, experience, and data!

 

I don't mind these kinds of tough jobs—they really stick in my memory, lol.

Considering the sense of accomplishment I feel when I finish a project, I’d love to be called in for another challenging job.
