Cutting Steel! (Special Edition) | A Roundup of Cutting Tools

Hello, everyone.

Have you ever cut the "Tools" part of an anchor drilling machine? lol

For certain reasons, I decided to cut up the Tools for the drilling machine I usually use.

The hardness of the tools is believed to be around 50 on the superhardness scale.

Hardness is denoted as HRC, so for this material, it would be HRC 50.

Products like this are almost always heat-treated, which is why they have this level of hardness.

Since it’s usually processed before baking, it’s not cut afterward.

Cut

At first, I tried cutting it with a metal saw.

But I just can't seem to cut through it!

It keeps getting deflected, so the blade won't go in lol

 

Next, I tried cutting it with a band saw.

But in the end, the blade ended up... completely dull and can't cut anything lol

It's broken, but...

Sparks are flying everywhere!

However, the blade cuts incredibly slowly.

It really is very hard!

I pushed it as hard as I could, and look what happened.

I tried cutting it like this for a while, but in 30 minutes, I was down to less than half...

 

It's a waste of time, so I'll just go with gas, lol.

So this is how it turned out—I used a sander to smooth out the rough spots and clean it up lol (just one of them).

 

This steel has been hardened to increase its surface hardness.

That's why the surface is particularly hard.

Since I probably won't cut this brand-new product, I'll take a picture of it for now to keep a record.

Considering the hassle of cutting it, it would be better to just buy it, but after talking it over with the manufacturer, there were various issues, so I ended up cutting it lol.

Experience really is a weapon, isn't it?? lol
