Will Construction DX Exacerbate Loneliness? The Construction Industry—Which Connects People—Might Lose That Quality!?

Hello, everyone.

This is Enta.

Temporary Anchor

The other day, a construction project that had been underway for about four years was completed, so I had a celebratory gathering with the representative there.

That agent was the same age as me, so I felt a connection with him, and that project was incredibly tough with one change after another, lol.

With that in mind, let's celebrate the completion of the project.

During our conversation there, we agreed that ICT these days feels kind of lonely!

It's handy in all sorts of ways, but ever since I started using Stake Navi, I've felt kind of lonely, lol.

Back in the day, even just to hang up a template, I’d have to go back to the office and ask, “If anyone’s free tomorrow, could you take a look at the template?”

We had that exchange, didn't we? lol

Those days when I used to teach young people how to survey, bragging and boasting as I went.

Surveying

But now, my days consist of working alone, silently driving piles while watching the pile-driving guide, and

I was lamenting, "I guess all this convenience means we can't even communicate anymore, huh?" lol

"Why don't we just do the surveying together?"

I thought to myself, “This is the downside of digital transformation in construction.”

Back when there were people around, I used to rely on them for everything and ask them to do my work for me.

But now we live in a world where labor shortages are getting worse and no one is willing to help us.

Maybe this is just what the times call for.

But I found myself thinking, “I’d like to be the kind of civil engineer (slope engineer) who actually feels a little lonely about that.”

The other day, our Vietnamese employee returned to Vietnam.

One of our employees burst into tears at that moment.

I think the feelings of people who say things like that are really important.

The loneliness of seeing the friends who were once a natural part of my daily life gradually disappear.

It's more likely that this trend will accelerate even further in the future, isn't it?

I messed up

Amid mechanization, streamlining, and the rise of AI, where does our path lie?

That’s what I’ve been thinking, but for now, I’m just spending my days caught up in my daily work while pondering these things.

Will the downside of future digital transformation be that "convenience" turns into "loneliness"? lol

It was a day that really made me think about a lot of things.

I feel like I caught a glimpse of how "Construction DX" has become little more than a hollow concept.

See you later.
