When preparing the ends of rebar inserts, how do you tighten the nuts?

How do you respond when an inspector asks you that?

Since the cost estimation materials from the Slope Protection Association mention a torque wrench, it must be a torque wrench, right?

It's just enough to keep things from getting too loose at the Japanese Geotechnical Society.

I used to say that tightening with a torque wrench was pointless.

Torque wrenches aren't all that useful.

Well, my feelings haven't changed even now, but,

When I'm told that, I manage the torque.

When I put it that way, it goes over just fine.

You don't need to manage the torque, but if you tighten it to the design torque, nothing happens.

Even though I say it's pointless, I end up using a torque wrench and taking inspection photos anyway.

I've tightened it just enough so it doesn't come loose.

I'm tightening it to the specified torque.

 

A torque wrench definitely gives you that sense of control, doesn't it?

It doesn't mean anything, but it's meaningful in that it ensures the test comes back clear!?!

What they're saying is contradictory, but should I just go ahead and do it anyway?

That's what I've been thinking lately.

That way, it's easier for the general contractor to understand, after all.
