Basic Principles of Landslide Mitigation Measures (Part 1)
This is a continuation of my previous post.

The brown area is the soil mass that is about to be moved, and the orange area is the fill.
Pile soil at the edge of the section that is trying to slide to resist the force causing it to move.
Simply put, the embankment counteracts the force that causes the structure to slide.
In our line of work, there are often sites where we compact the fill, right?
In emergency construction projects, in particular, they stack flexi-bags (ton bags) against slopes that are on the verge of collapsing to stabilize them, right?
That's it.

For example, a method where soil is safely removed using an excavator while being held in place by a flexible container bag.
It gives you a sense of security, doesn't it?
When a flexible container bag is in use for an extended period, or
Before the structure starts to deteriorate, we slope contractors will apply sprayed mortar.
Since it’s basically in the field of earthwork, we don’t really have much to do with it.
As an aside, a long time ago, during emergency earthquake-related construction work, we sprayed mortar onto weather-resistant flexi-bags used to secure the embankment, and,
We once installed rebar through it.
Since it was only a temporary setup, the gaps in the flexible containers weren't an issue, but,
I still wonder about that lol
But I think it would be a total disaster if we kept injecting it until it was completely filled, lol.
On slopes or ground that appear to be slipping or are already slipping,
Since backfill can be applied effectively and quickly, it’s really the absolute basics.
There was some soil removal the other day, but for now, the idea is to just pile on the fill!
